Alaska Caribou (DIY) Hunts

Species: Barren Ground Caribou
Location: Alaska
Methods: Rifle or Archery
Dates: August-September
Every year, multiple trophy Caribou Bulls are harvested in the Northern Brooks Range. Whether this is your first Caribou hunt or your 15th, you are sure to experience the hunt of a lifetime in the Northern Brooks Range. Your hunt begins approximately 55 miles South of Deadhorse, AK, where we position our base camp. Hunters are encouraged to arrive the night before to meet with the team and discuss the plans for departure the following day. Once you arrive to base camp, your experience truly begins. Our float planes are located just a short drive from camp and our team will help you get your gear ready and also bring your vehicle back for safe keeping after your departure.
Prior to departure, our team will focus on your safety and preparations for the highest likelihood of success. Additional tags for wolf and wolverine may be purchased and harvested with no additional fees for these specific species. Many clients also bring collapsible fishing equipment to take advantage of the lakes and streams that run through the vast landscape of the tundra. Some even bring a small rimfire rifle for a lunch of freshly harvested ptarmigan.
While we encourage our clients to plan for at least a 10-day field stay, many have found success after just a few days of pursuit. Once your harvest is complete, early extraction may be possible when weather and scheduling permit, so you can continue on to the next leg of your adventure. Even though you are here to hunt, you will find that the landscape, great company, and abundance of nature will leave you with memories that last a lifetime.
