Packing for Alaska

What to take on your Alaskan Adventure.

You’ve booked your dream hunt to the Last Frontier, and now you need to know what gear to bring.  Each hunt in Alaska can require a few different items, but the list below is fairly standard on all the trips we take up north.  This is a good guideline on packing for Alaska.

EQUIPMENT

Backpack (some require pack frame)

Binoculars

Sleeping Bag

Sleeping pad

Knives and saw.

Rope or Paracord

Nalgene Bottle

Water Purifier

Headlamp (take extra batteries)

Insect Repellant or Thermacell

Sunscreen

InReach or Sat Phone

Portable charger

Medicine bag with Ibuprofen, mole skin, chapstick, etc.

CLOTHING

Hunting boots (insulated)

Hip boots or chest waders (ask the outfitter)

Camp shoes (sandals, crocs, etc.)

Rain Gear (we use Helly Hansen)

1 pair of hunting pants

1 heavy coat

1 light jacket

2-3 hunting shirts

Base Layer (no cotton!)

2-3 pair socks

Underwear (they don’t take up much room, take as much as you need)

Like we mentioned, some hunts will require more or maybe less items when packing for Alaska.

After booking your hunt with us, always talk with the outfitter and get the list they require.
